Have you thought about what it’s like to participate in a biathlon? Now you can find out at the Try Biathlon event hosted by Methow Valley Biathlon on Sunday, February 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
A biathlon combines cross-country skiing and shooting.
At Try Biathlon, the Methow Valley Biathlon Team gives a presentation on the equipment and history of the sport. The team also provides training and safety information. Then participants take turns shooting at targets and skiing a short, easy biathlon course.
Try Biathlon is open to ages 9 and older, and no experience in biathlon is required. Register at the range. A $25 donation is suggested to cover the cost of ammunition and support the Methow Valley Biathlon Team.
Try Biathlon is at the Mazama Biathlon Range, 1.5 kilometers east of the Corral trailhead at 500 Goat Creek Road in Mazama, Washington. You must ski to the range. A Methow Trails pass is required.
