Spring walking tours at Hendricks Park in Eugene

Immerse yourself in nature this spring at Hendricks Park Rhododendron Garden, one of Eugene’s most beautiful gardens. This year’s schedule includes four free walks focusing on different topics:

  • Sunday, April 14, 1 p.m.—Rhododendron Garden tour, led by Emily Aune, head gardener at Hendricks Park. Aune will talk about history of the garden and share tips for caring for rhododendrons.
  • Sunday, April 28, 1 p.m.—Field botanist Howie Brounstein will lead a tour in the Native Plant Garden, where he’ll talk about how to identify and use edible medicinal plants.
  • Sunday, May 19, 1 p.m.—Karen Rainsong, Director of Singing Creek Educational Center, provides an introduction to the food, clothing, and cultural practices of the Kalapuya Indians.
  • Sunday, June 2, 8 a.m.—Birders and avian educators Donna Albino and Mieko Aoki will lead a stroll through the garden. You’ll learn how to identify birds and hear stories about local birds.

Hendricks Park is located at 2198 Summit Avenue in Eugene, Oregon, south of the University of Oregon campus. Hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Parking and admission are free.
