The tasty science of gingerbread returns to OMSI in Portland

Featured image by Cheryl Landes

Once again this year, some of Portland’s most talented architectural firms and professional bakers accept an important holiday mission. They form teams to create the most challenging, innovative gingerbread houses based on a theme.

The results are magical.

And now, you can see these mouth-watering masterpieces and vote for your favorite at the Gingerbread Adventures exhibit through New Year’s Day in the Auditorium at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Gingerbread Adventures is open during OMSI’s regular hours, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday, and is included in admission (buy tickets). The museum is closed on Monday, except when schools are closed. So that means OMSI is open on Monday, January 1, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

OMSI is located at 1945 SE Water Avenue (view directions). Parking costs $5, and the nearest MAX light rail stop is a 10-minute walk away (view MAX routes and schedules). For more information, visit OMSI’s website or call (503) 797-4000.
