Looking for something to do that will keep you knee deep in stories for a long time? Then check out the 25th annual Outhouse Races in Conconully, Washington.
On Saturday, January 13, show up on Main Street at 11 a.m.-noon to vote for the People’s Choice Outhouse and Costumes. Then at noon, watch the outhouses race down Main Street.
The rules are strict. Outhouses must be built on skis. Each team consists of two people pushing the outhouse and one sitting on the toilet seat with a roll of toilet paper.
If you’re interested in competing, read the rules. Build your outhouse and assemble a team. Then either pre-register online or do it in person at the Conconully Community Hall on race day, 9-11 a.m.
Each entered outhouse can participate in as many divisions as its sponsor can find teams to race. For more information, call the Conconully Chamber of Commerce at (509) 826-9050 or (877) 826-9050.
Conconully is in northcentral Washington, a five-hour drive northeast of Seattle and eight hours northeast of Portland.
