A new reading tree sculpture, with butterflies and insects fluttering among the branches and leaves, will be revealed at an open house at the Children’s Library in the Illinois Valley Branch of the Josephine Community Libraries Saturday, January 27, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at 209 West Palmer in Cave Junction, Oregon.
Other open house activities throughout the day include storytime, and special art-themed crafts, and refreshments.
The reading tree was designed and installed by Jessilyn and Lucas Brinkerhoff of Wild Cloud Creative in Eugene, Oregon. The Brinkerhoffs shaped the sculpture with a plasma cutter and grinder. Media consists of steel, copper, fir, and plywood. See pictures of Wild Cloud Creative’s work for the library.
Funding for the sculpture was provided by a grant from the Josephine County Cultural Coalition in Grants Pass, Oregon.
