If you love wine and trying new varieties, the 40th annual Vancouver International Wine Festival in Vancouver, British Columbia is your paradise. It’s considered one of the best wine shows in North America. This year, wines from 15 countries and 173 wineries will be represented—with a grand of 1,450 varieties. That’s a lot of sampling!

Although wines from around the world will be available, this year’s theme is on wines from Spain and Portugal. The Spanish and Portuguese wines will be showcased in a special section of the tasting room, where you can also experience thematic food and wine events throughout the festival.

In addition to the tastings, 51 special events are scheduled, including wine seminars, vintage tastings, winery dinners, wine parties, brunches, and minglers. And more than 50 British Columbia’s best chefs and caterers offer a taste of the province’s culinary delights.

Every year, the Vancouver International Wine Festival supports a performing arts organization in British Columbia and has raised nearly $9 million since its founding. This year’s recipient is the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, which takes place on the Vancouver waterfront from Wednesday, June 6, to Saturday, September 22.

If you’re traveling to Vancouver for the festival and need to stay at a hotel, make a reservation at StayVancouverHotels.com by Thursday, February 15, to get a free International Festival Tasting ticket. The festival is held in downtown Vancouver at the Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place, so keep that in mind while booking your hotel.
