Do you have some treasures in a closet or the attic that might be of value? Find out their worth at the six annual Antique Appraisal Day from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, at the McHenry County Historical Society & Museum, 6422 Main Street in Union, Illinois.
Reserve a seven-minute appointment for jewelry or 10 minutes for another appraisal category by calling the museum at (815) 923-2267. You can reserve up to three time slots. Reservations cost $7 per object, which includes admission to the museum.
The deadline to make reservations is Tuesday, February 20.
Walk-ins appraisals are more expensive ($9 per object) and available first-come, first-served if time allows.
Appraisal categories include:
- Oriental rug
- Sports cards and memorabilia
- General antiques, such as textiles, photos, and documents.
Items brought for appraisals must be portable enough for you to carry without assistance.
On the day of the appraisal, arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to check in and be seated in the appraiser’s area.
Spectators are also welcome. Regular museum admission applies if you only want to watch the appraisals: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, $12 for families, and free for historical society members.
For more information, visit the museum’s antique appraisal event’s page.
