Medieval combat group Anvard is hosting a fierce battle at the baseball field on the Boston Common Sunday, July 8, noon-3 p.m.
“Fighting is fast-paced medieval style with padded weapons for full contact,” states the Medieval Combat on Boston Common’s event page on Facebook. “Participants engage in combat and attempt to defeat their opponents in a variety of scenarios ranging from duels to castle sieges. We use swords, shields, spears, axes, javelins, grappling, and more! No experience necessary!”
Anyone age 18 and older is invited to participate. Combat specialists will be on hand to explain the rules. If you don’t have gear, you can rent it for $5. Otherwise, admission is free.
Parking (for a fee) is available at the Boston Common Garage, an underground structure accessed from Charles Street. Or you can take the T (subway) to one of these stops:
- Park Street (Red Line or Green Line trains B, C, D, and E)
- Boylston Street (Green Line trains B, C, D, and E)
Both T stations exit onto the Boston Common. Plan your trip on the T.
Go to Anvard’s Facebook page to learn more about the group.
