Every year on President’s Day weekend, wineries in eight Yakima Valley cities roll out the welcome mat for a red wine and chocolate pairing experience unlike any other. The Yakima Valley produces more than half of Washington State’s wine grapes on 17,000 acres.
Forty-eight of the valley’s 120 wineries are hosting events for the 2019 Red Wine and Chocolate Weekend, starting Friday evening, February 15, through Monday, February 18. Browse the tasting schedule for each winery.
On Saturday and Sunday, stop at the Yakima Valley Visitor Center to sample products made in the valley, such as Chukar Cherries Chocolates, Mick’s Pepper Jellies, and It’s All About the Pretzels. Locally made products are for sale at the gift shop. Also pick up a free wine map and get information on activities happening throughout the weekend in Yakima and the valley.
The visitor center hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. The center is closed on President’s Day (Monday, February 18).
The Yakima Valley Visitor Center is located at 101 N Fair Avenue in Yakima. Get more information at the center’s website or call (509) 573-3388.
The Yakima Valley Wine Country’s website has a bounty of information on the valley’s wine industry, wineries, and even tips on how to enjoy a wine and chocolate pairing event. Also check out other wine events scheduled throughout the year.
