If you love watching perpetual motion machines or knocking down rows of dominos on end, you don’t want to miss the last-ever Friday After Thanksgiving (F.A.T.) Chain Reaction at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge.
That’s where you’ll see what students, families, and adults have been concocting for several weeks before Thanksgiving. These creators will gather with their contraptions in the Rockwell Cage Gymnasium, 120 Vassar Street on the MIT campus, and combine them into one big chain for a grand finale.
The doors open for spectators on Friday, November 29, at 1 p.m., and the chain reaction starts at 3:30 p.m.
Online sales have ended, but you can buy tickets at the door. Admission is:
- $16 ages 18 and older
- $7.50 students, MIT ID holders, military, and seniors
- Free ages 5 and younger
All tickets include a free same-day admission to the MIT Museum.
Parking, for a fee, is available in several lots within walking distance of the gym (see options on Google Maps). The nearest T station (subway) is MIT on the Red Line (about a five-block walk). Plan your trip on the T.
For more information and to watch videos of past events, go to the F.A.T. Chain Reaction page.
