A view of the mountains and the Resurrection River during the drive from Seward, Alaska, to the Exit Glacier Visitor Center in Kenai Fjords National Park

The 12-mile drive along the Resurrection River from Seward to the Exit Glacier Visitor Center is filled with panoramic views of mountains, water, and forests in the Kenai Fjords National Park.
Several pullouts provide ample space to park safely and enjoy the views.
The vast icefield of the Exit Glacier is also within view along this route. Although the gigantic glacier is impressive, its size was much larger. It’s gradually melting from global warming. An interpretive sign at one of the pullouts shows how much the glacier has shrunk since the early 2000s.
The road also crosses the Chugach National Forest. A trail along the Resurrection River is accessible from one of the pullouts.
During tomorrow’s armchair photo tour, we’ll take a walk from the Exit Glacier Visitor Center for some close-up views of the glacier.
