For more than 75 years, residents of Peacock Lane in Portland, Oregon, have decorated their homes and yards with colorful Christmas lights and displays for the public to enjoy. That has changed this year because of COVID-19.
“Due to regulations regarding large gatherings, and our concern for both the health and safety of visitors and Lane residents, it is necessary to cancel this year’s event, traditionally held from December 15-31,” according to an announcement on the Peacock Lane home page.
“We are saddened that we will not be able to ‘light up the Lane’ this year, but we, as a community, felt it was best to cancel this year’s activities for everyone’s health and safety.”
The residents of the neighborhood plan to resume the event in December 2021.
