COVID-19 has presented a lot of challenges this year for celebrating the holidays, but Ridgefield has found some creative ways to keep the spirit alive. This year, Ridgefield’s Hometown Celebration features activities you can enjoy outdoors, from your car, or at home. Here’s the lineup.
Saturday, December 5
From noon to 2 p.m., drive around town to see homes lit up. Keep an eye out for Santa. Admire the decorated windows at the downtown merchants and take pictures at selfie stations scattered around town.
Throughout the day, look for hidden ornaments in the Ridgefield Arts Quarter. This is the first year the city has sponsored an ornament hunt.
Then go to the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex at 3101 South Hillhurst Road for the Drive Thru Tree Jubilee. This drive-through light show and tree decorating contest runs from 5 to 7 p.m. You’ll also get a Hometown Staycation goodie bag.
If you prefer staying at home, there’s still a lot to do:
- Watch Santa touring the neighborhoods in Ridgefield from noon to 2 p.m.
- Find a rock and paint it during the virtual Rocks with Cops.
- Bake some cookies with Killa Bites! They’ll show you how to make two delicious sugar cookie recipes in their videos.
- Make gifts with inspiration from several instructional videos.
Saturday, December 12
The Arts Quarter Ornament Hunt continues throughout the day.
