The sledding runs, known as the Snowplay Area, opened at Mount Rainier National Park on January 10 for the season. The Snowplay Area is the only designated sledding area and the safest place to go sledding at Mount Rainier National Park. The area is suitable for children, and there’s a small sledding hill for small children.

Only plastic and soft-sided sleds are allowed in the Snowplay Area. Snowshoeing and skiing are not allowed. Pets are allowed in the parking lot only.

COVID-19 safety guidelines are in place, such as wearing masks and maintaining a six-foot distance from people who are not in your party.

The Snowplay Area is located above the upper parking lot at Paradise, near the visitor center and Paradise Inn. To get there, drive to Paradise and park, walk to the upper lot if necessary, and continue up the snow ramp on the uphill side of the parking lot.
