The Lilac Bloomsday Association, organizers of the annual Bloomsday race in Spokane, Washington, is hosting a virtual event for 2021 because of continuing restrictions on large gatherings from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 45th annual event, called Bloomsday Worldwide 2021, is open to runners and walkers from everywhere. Here’s how it works:
- Register on the Bloomsday website, personalize your race bib, and pay the entry fee of $24.49. The entry fee includes two $10 coupons, one for Safeway|Albertson’s supermarkets and one for ACE Hardware coupon. Race bibs and the coupons will be mailed in early April. If you register by March 13, your name will be printed on a souvenir race number.
- From Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 9, run or walk any 12-kilometer (7.46-mile) course you want. When you finish, report your time on the Bloomsday Results Portal on the Bloomsday website. The portal opens on April 30.
- The Lilac Bloomsday Association will mail your official finisher shirt and postcard to everyone who finishes the race in late May.
