The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festival. at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, have been cancelled for the second year in a row, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
Staff Reporter Randall Roberts quoted an order Riverside County Public Health Officer, Dr. Cameron Kaiser, posted on January 29: “This order is intended to reduce the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19, thereby slowing the spread of COVID-19 in communities worldwide. If COVID-19 were detected at these festivals, the scope and number of attendees and the nature of the venue would make it infeasable, if not impossible, to track those who may be placed at risk.”
I checked the music festival websites, and no information has been posted about cancelling the 2021 festivals. The Coachella site features items for sale at its online store. There’s also a link to a documentary, Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert, which you can stream on YouTube for free.
The Stagecoach Festival site still has information for the 2020 event that didn’t take place.
I found a notice posted on the RivCO NOW website about a county order restricting events of 250 people or more. There’s no date on when the notice was posted.
