Maifest is among the popular annual celebrations in Leavenworth, Washington. For three days on the second weekend of May, people gather in the Bavarian-themed town to celebrate the arrival of spring.

The event has been cancelled again this year because of COVID.

This celebration is a German tradition dating to the 10th century. The poles in Germany were decorated with sausages, cakes, flowers, and ribbons. The villagers believed that dancing around the maipole would bring good luck and wealth to their community.

For updates and information on future events, check the community calendar on the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce’s website.
