The Trustees of Reservations has relaunched its annual hiking challenge after a one-year break because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The “Hike Trustees” program, which started in 2016, encourages people of all ages to record their hikes at the Trustees’ properties in Massachusetts to win monthly prizes.
The program is free. To participate, all you need to do is go to hiketrustees.org, create an account, and log your hikes within three days after finishing them. Your miles are tallied and saved, and a leaderboard updates in real-time. Monthly prizes are awarded to people who take the most hikes and log the most miles. The prizes range from Trustees’ merchandise to gift certificates.
This year, the Trustees started a Facebook group, which now has more than 2,000 members. The page is described as, “A place for our Members and visitors who like to hike, to gather and connect. A place for hikers, walkers, movers of all kinds who love to be outside at our special places.”
A record number of hikers have signed up for 2021 – 500 and counting.
The Trustees has more than 125 properties through Massachusetts. Here’s the complete list.
