Duck Daze is a popular celebration on the first Saturday in June in University Place, southwest of Tacoma. The festival includes a parade, race, plant and garage sale, fire and police open house, and car show. But in 2021, the event has been cancelled for the second year in a row.
“Given the current status of COVID restrictions in Pierce County, which continue to fluctuate and currently stand at Phase 2, the decision has been made to cancel Duck Daze in 2021,” the City of University Place published in an article in The Suburban Times. “Given the amount of planning and preparation that is necessary to hold the event, organizers determined it would be too difficult to successfully stage the celebration amid the uncertainties of state restrictions.”
I haven’t seen any announcements for the 2021 cancellation yet on the City of University Place’s website or Facebook page. The Suburban Times‘ article stated that updates would be published in this newspaper when they are available.
