
Historian Drew Cooks is leading free tours of the original 1843 Fort Nisqually this summer in DuPont, Washington. The next tours are Saturday, July 24, at 1 and 2:30 p.m. The tours also include a stop at the New Sequalitchew reburial cemetery adjacent to the fort site.
More tours will be held this summer on Saturday, August 22, in conjunction with the Hudson’s Bay Day and BBQ cook off in Clock Tower Park, and Saturday, September 18. Tour times for both dates are 1 and 2:30 p.m.
To join the tour, simply show up on time to join the group. The fort site is located at Center Drive. To get there, park at the DuPont City Hall at 1700 Civic Drive. Then use the crosswalk at Civic Drive and Center Drive to walk to the fort site.
Everyone is welcome. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
