We all need more opportunities to laugh now more than ever, and Kickstand Comedy in Portland is doing something about it. Starting May 21, 2021, they partnered with Portland Parks and Recreation and The Portland Mercury to host Comedy in the Park, the first annual series of comedy shows every other Friday at 6 p.m. in Laurelhurst Park.

Pack a blanket and some goodies, and relax with your friends and family while watching standup, character, and immersive comedy shows by some of the Pacific Northwest’s favorite local and national comics.

The outdoor stage features original hand-painted cutouts and standups created by local artist Mike Bennett. His work is inspired by the flowers and plants in Laurelhurst Park.

Laurelhurst Park is at the intersection of SE Cesar E Chavez Blvd. and Stark Street. The shows are located at the park’s Concert Grove, near the Dog Park. Admission is free, and street parking is available along SE Oak Street at the south edge of the park.

Public transit (city buses) stop within walking distance of the park. Plan your trip on Tri-Met.

Comedy in the Park will continue through September.
