Space Needle fireworks return to Seattle’s New Year’s celebration

Seattle is welcoming 2022 with its traditional fireworks show from the Space Needle, but there won’t be a live in-person audience again this year because of continued safety concerns from COVID. Instead, the show will be broadcast on KING5-TV and streamed from KING5’s website and the KING5 app.

The streaming brings a big advantage this year: It’s the first time augmented reality will be combined with the fireworks show to create a new experience. No one is sharing what it is, so if you’re curious, you’ll have to tune in.

The festivities start at 11:35 p.m. Pacific time. Learn more at this KING5-TV post. You can also watch the light show from 2021 on this page.

If you’re in the Seattle area and want to join a viewing party, here’s a list.
