Bring your decorated kayak, canoe, or any other non-motorized boat to Riverfront Park at 200 Water Street NE in downtown Salem, Oregon, on Saturday, December 15. Join the holiday parade of paddlers called the Winter Solstice Illuminata Regatta in Riverbank Slough from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The parade route runs from the Riverfront Park dock to the Peter Courtney Pedestrian bridge and back. Paddlers will repeat the route over and over until the parade ends at 7:30 p.m.
The regatta organizers ask that paddlers wear personal flotation devices (PDFs) and safe clothing and bring a whistle. If your boat is 10 feet or longer, you also need an Oregon Invasive Species permit.
There’s no charge to participate or watch from shore.
For updates, check the regatta’s events page on Facebook.
