Bumper cars on ice arrive in Tacoma

Photos from Pierce County Parks and Recreation

The first bumper cars designed to run on a skating rink appeared in 2010 in Boise, and their popularity has increased steadily since then. And now, they’re coming to Tacoma.

Try them at the grand opening Memorial Day weekend at the Sprinker Recreation Center, 14824 C Street South. Reservations are required (book here), and tickets are $13.59 per person, which includes the service fee.

After the grand opening, you can ride the bumper cars on weekends starting May 31. Hours will be:

  • Friday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 6:30-10 p.m.
  • Saturday, 1-3 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.
  • Sunday, 12:15-4 p.m.

Admission will be $12 per person for the bumper cars only and $19 per person for a combination bumper car-ice skating package. The bump/skate combo includes a skate rental.

Bumper car riders ages 3 and younger or under 42 inches tall can ride free with a paid adult.

Find more information, visit the Sprinker Recreation Center’s website or call (253) 798-4000.
