For the first time in its 115-year history, the amusement park season at Oaks Park in Portland has been cancelled.
“We have made repeated efforts to convey to the state government our ability to operate with the same modifications that have been acceptable for the reopening of every other major, regional attraction in Oregon,” The Oaks Park Association posted on the park’s website. “Despite those efforts, we have continued to be excluded from the list of statewide attractions permitted to open. With the fall season around the corner, we have had to make this difficult decision to cancel the 2020 season in its entirety.”
The association plans to reopen the park for the 2021 season.
If you received a ride bracelet through the association’s donation program or bought bracelets or vouchers from Oaks Park or a third-party source, such as Groupon, Portland Perks, or Half-Price Portland, the park will honor these for the 2021 season.
“Our goal remains, as ever, to preserve and perpetuate the historic amusement park as an affordable, safe, and family-friendly recreation attraction for generations to come. We look forward to the day when we can again make that goal a reality for our community.”
