An ice fishing derby, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, a downhill kayak race, and a box sled race for kids are among the activities scheduled for the Somerset SnowFest. Activities take place Lake George Regional Park in Canaan, Maine, Coburn Park in Skowhegan, and the town of Madison Sunday, February 21, through Sunday, February 28.
Other activities include a birding walk at Lake George, a campfire cooking clinic, snow art, a bird feeder building workshop, and a kite derby. There’s also an equestrian skijoring competition, the only one in the Northeast, along with a biathlon that combines cross-country skiing and fat-tire biking.
All activities are free, but registration for each activity you want to participate in is required because spaces are limited to comply with Maine’s COVID-19 restrictions. View the full schedule and register at somersetsnowfest.org/schedule.
