The organizers of the annual Florence Rhodendron Festival have announced that the 2021 event has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They plan to resume in 2022.
“We cannot wait to welcome visitors back to Florence to enjoy all that Oregon’s Coastal Playground has to offer as soon as it is safe to do so and any restrictions are lifted,” the statement reads.
The festival started in 1908, a year after the Portland Rose Festival, which is the oldest festival in Oregon. It’s held Wednesday-Sunday during the second week in May.

Florence is 172 miles southwest of Portland.
