Kids ages 16 and younger, the Lakewood Arts Commission wants to see your best interpretation of the theme, “The Greatest Showman”, for the 2019 SummerFEST Kids Art Contest. The Greatest Showman is the featured movie at SummerFEST on Saturday, July 13, at Fort Steilacoom Park.

To enter, download the entry form or pick up a printed copy at the front desk at Lakewood City Hall, 6000 Main Street SW. Draw your picture in the blank space on the second page of the form. Your picture must contain a hot air balloon.

When you’re finished, fill out the form and have one of your parents or a legal guardian sign it. Then, on July 13 take your entry to the City of Lakewood booth next to the main stage at SummerFEST. Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

After you drop off the entry, your name will be entered in a raffle for a one-hour free hot air balloon ride for two from Seattle Ballooning. The raffle winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m. at the main stage. You must be present to win.

The Lakewood Arts Commission will group the art entries into three age groups: 4-7 years, 8-11 years, and 12-16 years. They’ll judge the artwork by age group and distribute prizes to the winners after SummerFEST.

All entries will be displayed at Lakewood City Hall for viewing after SummerFEST until August.

Fort Steilacoom Park is located at 8714 87th Avenue SW in Lakewood, Washington, 40 miles south of Seattle and 135 miles north of Portland.
