
The 2021 Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival in Astoria, Oregon, will be a combination of virtual and drive-by events due to the ongoing safety concerns from the coronavirus pandemic. The festival is scheduled Friday-Sunday, June 18-20.
Events listed on the festival’s website as of today include:
- Coronation of the queen on Friday, June 18
- Flag raising on Saturday, June 19
- OpTog Parads on Saturday, June 19, which will be on Marine Drive in front of the Astoria Maritime Museum
- Church service on Sunday, June 20
Other events that do not have dates yet are the hex sales, hex burning, and a virtual readers theater.
The Finnish Lodge Auxiliary is continuing its tradition of offering fruit soup and rice pudding for the festival, except this year, orders are to-go. Place your order by calling (503) 440-9002 from Monday, May 10, through Thursday, June 17. Pick up orders behind the hall at 244 West Marine Drive in Astoria on Saturday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
