It’s unclear yet whether the Boston Symphony Orchestra can move forward with a live fireworks celebration for July 4 this year. In a statement on its website, plans will be announced late spring:
“The Boston Symphony Orchestra is currently evaluating and planning the July 4 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, but an official announcement will not be forthcoming until late spring. The safety and well-being of everyone involved will always remain the highest priority in our decision-making process.”
If the commonwealth’s plan for reopening from the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t change, the gathering limit will be rescinded on August 1.
Last year, the orchestra held a virtual concert and fireworks show, which attracted viewers worldwide.
