Sand Island Sandcastle Competition August 13-15 near St. Helens, Oregon

Watch award-winning sandcastle carvers create their sand art pieces and vote for your favorite at the Sand Island Sandcastle Carving Competition Friday-Sunday, August 13-15. Look for highlights and other surprises hidden in the carvings.

If you’d like to try your hand at sand carving, free classes are available on Saturday, August 14, 1-2 p.m. Then watch teams compete in a quick sand carving competition at 2 p.m.

Also go on a scavenger hunt for the big foot hiding among the island’s trees and pathways.

If you get hungry while you’re on the island, you can buy pizza, sandwiches, candy, water, and other beverages. Limited items will also be on sale at a gift shop.

The event will be held at the Sand Island Campground and Marine Park from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day. Boat transportation will be provided to Sand Island from the Oregon City Docks on the Columbia River waterfront in front of the City Hall at 265 Strand Street in St. Helens, Oregon.

Dogs are allowed on a leash, and their humans must be in control of them at all times.

Single-day admission is $7 per person, and a three-day pass is $20. Both include parking at the end of First Street by the Dockside Restaurant. Admission for infants and children in backpacks is free.

If you do not have a ticket, parking costs $5.
